Eder Muniz a.k.a. "Calangos de Rua" is a self taught artist whose work can be found all over the streets of Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. His unique talent, commitment to valuing regional culture and preserving mother earth and his ability to capture young audiences through his art, landed him a full time position as a street artist with the city of Salvador da Bahia. Since then he has gained national and international recognition.
Eder Muniz is the founder of "Movimento Calangos", a collective of artists committed to encouraging creativity and culture in Brazil's favelas. Movimento Calangos de Rua means Lizard of the Street Movement. This December, in honor of Brazil's local Children's Day, the Colongos Movement will bring actors, dancers,
photographers, poets, musicians, and graffiti artists together to create a public mural to raise awareness and support for the Little Prince, an organization dedicated to working with children who suffer from burns.
The Crazy People Must Do Something is the NYC based arm of the Colongos Movement. Our aim is simple. Connect people with art and artists that support global issues. For this event Eder is joined by his fellow "crazies"for an insane night of art and music in the Lower East Side.
